Guy Ben-Tov''s "Va'Yissa Meshallo Va'Yomar" was composed in 2016 for Modalius Ensemble & conductor Eitan Steinberg, as part of their project "Liberty, Otherness, Responsibility". This composition uses Alharizi’s virtuoso text – originally written in a coherent mix of three languages – but in an unexpected personal way: The composer refers to pluralism and multi-languages by presenting the difficulties and the confusion they might create. The composer deconstructed the text into meaningless fragments and gave percussionist Amnon Yoel the solo part, while the ensemble members join him playing and murmuring. The composition’s flow from one section to another is determined by the conductor.
